Night & Day

Cantabile presents “Night and Day,” an afternoon of stirring choral music written for treble voices on texts that celebrate the simple beauty found in the passing hours of an ordinary day.  

Throughout the ages, composers and poets have drawn inspiration from the images, rhythms, and possibilities contained in every 24 hour cycle of our lives.  Our program will feature works by masters such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Antonio Vivaldi, Michael Haydn, and Irving Berlin.  You’ll also hear from important contemporary choral composers Eric Whitacre, Jocelyn Hagen, Gwyneth Walker, and Cantabile collaborator Philip E. Silvey.  

​Genres include music of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods as well as Jazz and Traditional African-American Spirituals.  Come in out of the cold and cozy up with some great vocal music in February—we’ve been getting ready for you
